The mountain lion does not watch TV. He stares unwaveringly at the smallest person, or child, in the room. Someone next to me has been pegged as the runt in our pack of prey….

His tail is quite long (1/3 of its total length) for balance, and it is thicker than the arm you see in the picture. It brushed by my head after this photo, when the cat turned around.

Stupid filthy cat

Apparently there's a sawdust factory next door or something. My cat waltzed in the front door, no more than five minutes after I saw her last, and she was absolutely covered in sawdust. I said, "Ohhhhhhhh noyadon't" and dragged her right back out.

Five minutes later she walked back in clean as a whistle. I don't know how she does it.

anybody ever told you that you are nuts? i mean, I love cats and predators of all kinds, but c’mon! one doesn’t bring them home for dinner!

  7. jurvetson says:

Bodhi47: nuts? all the time. Like when I climb the dish.

    Vanita: the husband snores, eh?

  8. BenODen says:

He’s beautiful. What was the ocassion to get to visit such a stunning animal close up?

    WOW.

  9. jurvetson says:

    cat party.

  10. Genista says:

It’s not sitting on the floor – or is it?

  11. jurvetson says:

on a table…. so it could jump on our heads…

  12. Genista says:

Ah, what a relief. I had pictured this cat sitting on the floor, and got mortally afraid of ever going into the hills again. Now I’m just uncomfortable.

  13. Eric Rolph says:

I guess, keeping a wolf is similar in many ways. A few buddies of mine in Alaska had half-wolf and one kept a wolf, raised from someone who bred them — not easy to manage.

  14. hitme1 says:

    Now we should be scared

I keep imagining what your sofa must look like.

  17. artwitness says:

Thanks. That’s my favorite Steve Martin routine!

What the hell do you use for catnip on a thing like that? Ikea couches soaked in Vodka or what?

  18. lina35mmcamera says:

Purrr "D" scary to me, to have this in the house:-)…Lovely to know it trustes you…:-)

  19. martytdx says:

very cool – I’m amazed you have it at your house.

  20. Johanna May Gustavsson says:

not exactly meant to be a PET! wtf!

  21. gem66 says:

Absolutely beautiful and absolutely scary. We have them wild, here in Arizona. They very seldom attack people, but once one does, it goes on doing it. You know the rest. Can’t have a predator of humans on the loose.

  22. roschler says:

I’ll never forget what a professional lion trainer (for commercials not circus acts), said to the host on a TV show. The host asked, "how can I know when the cat is about to attack?" The trainer asked "just look to see if I have bolted from the room."

Wiser words I have never heard! :)

  23. Solitaire1 says:

No…you’ve had this experience? It’s my dream, totally awesome

  24. dr_loplop says:

Maybe if there was something better on the telly…

Thanks for posting to the Somebody else’s discerning mountain lion group!

  25. tomesphotos says:

I thought it must have been stuffed. It’s a beauty but keeping a cat like that is only asking for BIG trouble.

  26. tifotter says:

I thought you would appreciate this. Apparently the cougars are planning something…

Mr. Dust: I never can tell when you’re being sarcastic.

B&C: I’m pretty sure she just rolled around on the sidewalk – maybe there’s some leftover trash from when they … I dunno, cut … things … when doing the renovation here.

  31. whistlingdust says:

Sir , I never was more in earnest.

  32. Brother O'Mara says:

  34. H. Mal says:

She IS beautiful…I hope all that sawdust didn’t wind up getting licked off, something tells me that wouldn’t be good for her innards.

  35. Audrey Marcella says:

The background an sawdust really bring out her eyes. I’m really looking foward to getting a bombay cat; they’re gorgeous.
