Why I Bought an Above Ground Swimming Pool

gardioctagonalMy family had been badgering me for a swimming pool for about three years. I routinely take the children to the swimming baths each Sunday which they enjoy immensely, but they and my wife had been trying to persuade me to invest in a pool for our garden and I have finally given in.

The main reason for my change of heart is the price. I negotiated such a good deal it’s almost unbelievable. I had been considering an inground pool which would have taken a lot of work and a lot of money. But I finally settled on a wooden framed, elliptical above ground pool after some consultation with no less than three swimming pool suppliers.

They all told me the same message. An above ground pool can be up and running in only a couple of days. They take far less preparation of the ground and if you have children and pets they are far safer than in ground pools. I was sold.

All I needed to do was negotiate a good price which I did by playing each supplier against each other. In the end I got my elliptical pool at near cost price with free installation, a years worth of water treatment chemicals and even a swimming pool bubble cover thrown in at cost price. I think I have paid around only 20% of what it would have cost to have a similar in ground pool installed.

Another reason for the reduced cost has been the time of year. The peak season has yet to start so the installation team were able to come out and complete my installation in no time at all.

So now we are waiting for some decent warm weather so that we can take full advantage of our new, private swimming pool. I know that it’s going to be popular with our children’s friends this coming summer and hopefully it will help me shed a few of these excess pounds I’ve acquired this winter.

Getting a swimming pool was the best thing I ever did. It was a bit of a price - but well worth it. My whole family have benefited from the exercise and we regularly have pool parties so it has been great for our social life as well -

These pools are fantastic and easy to install. We went for the wooden pool version which looks incredible in the garden and is getting loads and loads of use! Great idea.

Good move to get it installed before the summer arrives - will be great fun for the kids and another excuse to get out of the house!

Plus the pool increases the equity of your home, so you could sell it for for money if you ever decided to. Or, you may be able to take your pool with you, since you can disassemble many of the above ground pools. They certainly are more practical than the in ground pools.

Congrats on your new pool. Above ground pools are definitely a good deal for budget minder buyers. My company installs inground gunite pools but even we recommend an above ground pool to clients who can’t afford the construction and installation costs that come along with inground pools. I’m glad you were able to negotiate a good deal on the above ground pool. Sounds like it was steal.

I really hope your family enjoys it. I’m sure you will not want to part with it when (or if) you sell your house. So be prepared to either buy a new one or, as you mentioned, be ready to pack that one up and take it with you. Another benefit of having an above ground pool — you can move it! :o)

    Enjoy your summer.
