Use GHD Styling Tools to Get the Sleek Hair Look
The smooth, straight hair look continues to be immensely popular and modern hair styling tools make it easy to achieve that celebrity, catwalk hairstyle yourself at home.
There are a few tools and hair products that you will need. We recommend:
- GHD Straighteners:
- An adjustable hair dryer:
- A good quality round brush:
- Leave in conditioner:
- Hair relaxer or smoothing cream:
- Detangling Comb:
- Hair Sectioning Clips:
- Finishing Spray:
Before you start here are a few basic precautions that you should be aware of:
- It is recommended that you don’t use hair straighteners more than two to four times a week.
- Always dry your hair completely before straightening.
- Don’t overuse hair products as this will make your hair look lank and greasy.
- Don’t brush your hair when wet as this will stretch your hair.
Here’s the basic procedure that will give you salon-smooth hair:
- Wash and condition your hair.
- Gently towel dry your hair by blotting with an absorptive towel. Rubbing hair will make it frizzy.
- Comb your hair with your detangling comb and tease out any knots.
- Apply a smoothing or relaxing product to your hair.
- Gently blow dry your hair while running your fingers through it.
- Divide your hair into manageable sections and separate using sectioning clips.
- Take one section at a time and draw your round brush through it from the roots to the end while applying the blow dryer to the section that is pulled straight.
- Only move on to the next section when the hair is completely dry.
- Once your whole head of hair is dry, switch the dryer to a cool setting and blow cool air through your hair to seal the cuticle.
- Apply a little finishing product before commencing with the hair straighteners.
- Set the temperature of your GHD hair straighteners to about 250 degrees. If you have fine, flyaway hair you may want to use a lower temperature and if you have tough, thick hair you may want to use a slightly higher temperature.
- Separate your hair into sections again with the sectioning clips
- Using sections of hair that are no more than two inches wide and about half an inch thick, pull the hair straightener steadily outwards from the hair root ensuring that you don’t stop on any section as this may burn the hair.
- Repeat until all sections of your hair have been straightened.
- Apply a small amount of hair finishing product to seal the cuticle and give your hair that healthy shine.
Following this procedure will give you that sleek, shiney, smooth, straight hair that is popular with stars like Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Aniston and Catherine Zeta Jones.
If you are a fan of straight hair you might like to invest in a set of limited edition GHD Dark or Pure hair straighteners.
