Spring has sprung; hello outdoors and gardens!

If you haven’t braved the garden yet after the big freeze, take a look outdoors! The warm pre-spring weather has brought out the buds and flowers are on the way.

Gardens aren’t just for gardeners. These days people treat their gardens like outdoor rooms: a living space to play, eat, relax and even sleep in as well as a haven for wildlife and somewhere to grow food.

So, it’s time to get yourself ready for balmy spring and summer evenings, late night outdoor gatherings, family celebrations in the garden and all sorts of outdoor garden fun. ..

  • polish up your barbecue tools. Get rid of last year’s rust ‘n’ dust and make sure everything’s in tip top condition for delicious, hygenic food.
  • the same goes for grills - eating outdoors is wonderful but food poisoning isn’t!
  • treat yourself to a quality hammock. Hammocks can be strung from poles as well as between trees so think DIY if you don’t have a sturdy tree handy
  • de-cobweb your outdoor furniture and protect it, as necessary, with a good coat of wood protector. And sand down any splinters!
  • if the wildlife is becoming intrusive, try bird and mammal deterrents and buy some citronella to ward off the insects
  • hook out your garden tools, clean and sharpen them, then you’ll be prepared for idle pottering in the sunshine without frustration

What else? Have fun… pure and simple. Enjoy your ourdoors and gardens experiences this summer!
