Honest Customer Feedback Improves Business Trust
One of the features I particularly like at Ebay is the rating system. It allows customers to score their supplier and leave comments that other prospective customers can read.

The system has its failings and can be used fraudulently. It’s quite easy to build up a high score by apparently selling multiple items but in truth actually buying the items yourself. Once a good score has been established, suggesting that you are a trustworthy and reliable supplier, you then advertise a high value item such as a television set. Instead of using Paypal to get your money you insist on a bank or money transfer then, when you have the dosh, you simply disappear.
There have been many people burned by unscrupulous con-artists exploiting the seller-rating system in this way. It is therefore all the more refreshing when we encounter an online business who are clearly publishing completely honest and open comments from their past customers.
I recently needed to book a hotel room, just for one night, at Heathrow airport. I had no idea which hotel to choose, but I did have some special requirements. Specifically these were that I wanted a swimming pool and internet access. Since I was away from home for a night I decided that I wanted a bit of a treat and a swim before bed time seemed like a good idea. But how could I quickly find a hotel that met my requirements and how would I really know if it was any good?
That was when I came across the Gosimply.com website and their excellent Heathrow Airport Hotels page. This provided exactly what I was looking for. An abundance of what are clearly honest customer comments, a quick and easy way to compare hotels, their prices and importantly their facilities.
The simple ‘at a glance’ page is a great way to quickly narrow down the choice. I simply looked at this page then clicked on a few hotels that had swimming pools. I finally chose the Novotel Hotel because it met all of my requirements and the customer reviews were 100% positive. They provided an ‘early bird’ breakfast which was ideal as my flight to Frankfurt was at 06:50 and the restaurant was outstanding.
The online facility provided by Gosimply is a great example of how clear openness and honesty can work to the benefit of a business. By allowing customers to tell prospective customers exactly what their experience has been they bring about a sense of reliability and trustworthiness. Its just a pity that this is not the case for all online businesses.
