Changing Your Printer Ink Cartridge
If you are anything like me you will hate having to change your printer ink cartridges. The instructions always make it look a cinch, but I must be a little challenged because it is never simple for me.
Most modern printers have a software utility that will help you install your cartridge, but older printers may require reference to the user manual. This is a good point. Always read the user manual before attempting anything like this. It may have been months since you last had to change the cartridge so its worthwhile reminding yourself of what you need to do.
Normally it’s just a matter of opening the printer and maybe selecting the correct option in the software. The old cartridges are usually very simple to remove but do take care to make note which way round the cartridge was facing. The new cartridge should just slot in place, but you will need to remember to remove the protective tape on new cartridges.
That reminds me, should we use new or refilled cartridges? Refills are an economical way to get a replacement cartridge, and if you do a lot of printing you will want to save a little money somewhere. But new cartridges will tend to last longer and give you fewer installation problems.
After installing your new cartridges you will generally have to go through an automated alignment stage where the printer aligns the cartridges correctly. Once this is done you are all set.
Always use the correct cartridges for your printer. That means if you have an Epson printer you must use Epson Printer Cartridges. And if you have an inkjet printer be sure to use the correct inkjet cartridges.
It’s very easy to be influenced by price when shopping for replacement printer cartridges but remember that not all printer cartridges are made the same. Do yourself and your printer a favour and buy only compatible cartridges that are the best you can afford.

Stick with the original toners! The refills are a waste of money!
