Can You Have Too Much TV?

1149243_49766358Can you imagine there being no television whatsoever? Or are you old enough to remember when the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) would cease broadcasting between 6pm and 7pm so that children could be put to bed without demanding to watch more television?

How times have changed. We now have 24 hour television piped into our homes by cable, internet, satellite and regular terrestrial broadcasting. The television companies are no longer concerned that toddlers might insist on staying up beyond their bed time and many parents will let their children stay up as long as they want. Is this progress?

Technology has certainly progressed. But what about the quality of the programmes that are broadcast? Many would argue that the quality of television programmes has deteriorated as the technology has developed yet we are all still inclined towards spending good money on a Direct TV Package, just so that we have entertainment on tap whenever we might want it.

There are Direct TV Packages that offer more channels than you can get from your cable provider. Direct TV is just one of the many mind-blowing options available to people today. Its really not surprising that many older people are completely stumped by the plethora of options available today. When they were children all that was available would have been the wireless. How times have changed.
