Want a Beautiful New Bathroom? Check Your Home First!
There are some stunning bathrooms on the market right now. Contemporary bathroom technology is changing fast in line with the need to conserve water and save energy. And a tap is no longer just a tap. These days a tap can be a thing of beauty in iteself. A design classic, even a miniature work of art.
bathrooms can cost a bomb. It’s easy to spend a grand on a smart shower cubicle. Or several hundred pounds on a set of designer mixer taps. So it’s a good idea to make sure - before you lay out all that cash - that what you’re buying will work properly, effectively, economically and efficiently in your home. And that it’ll actually fit into your bathroom!
Why? Because the UK’s older housing stock is notorious for eccentric, Heath Robinson-style plumbing and weird legacy water systems. Most of the bathrooms in Victorian and earlier homes were put in later, often created by partitioning off part of a bedroom or box room. As a result some come in very strange shapes!
Which is why wise bathroom buyers get someone who knows about plumbing to take a quick look before taking the plunge. And why clever buyers get busy with the tape measure before spending a penny. Get the basics right before you start buying all those gorgeous bathroom accessories!

I absolutely agree, the bathroom is one of the easiest rooms to start with and relatively inexpensive as well. I just created a while new look for mine and I think it cost me less than $250, including paint. You can’t beat that.
