Always use a call to action

Tell your website visitors what to do next…

…so they don’t have to spend time working it out for themselves!

You probably already know that you’ve only got a few seconds to catch someone’s attention before they navigate away from your website. The easier you can make the process of finding information, the more likely visitors are to stay longer and ultimtately buy from you.

One of the most important and effective ways of doing this is to use a ‘call to action’ on every web page. So what’s a call to action?

A call to action is simply an instruction telling someone what to do next.

Here are three examples:

1. Get in touch

If you’d like to find out more about my services, get in touch! You can either email me or call on 0800 XXXXXX.

2. Contact us for a fast, friendly quote

Just fill in and submit the form below and we’ll get back to you with an accurate quote within the hour.

3. What do I do next?

Interested? Then let’s talk. Call on 01273 XXXXXX or email me for a friendly discussion.

How do you get the most out of calls to action?

  • Make your call to action easy to spot by giving it a header
  • Place a call to action prominently on every page
  • Tailor it to the contents of each page
  • If your page is long and scrolls down the screen, put a call to action towards the top so it is visible in the top half of your site
  • If your page is longer than two full screens, add another call to action at the bottom
